After tons of cleaning, re-organizing and baby-proofing, I was able to finally open up my dayhome this past Monday. I have one little girl coming on a semi-regular basis, with appointments to meet other families shortly.
Living in a two-bedroom apartment, it’s hard to find the place to accomodate a dayhome, but with a little creativity, we were able to pull it off.
The dining area is fairly large, so instead of planting the table right in the center of it, I moved it over to the side closer to the kitchen and removed the leaf (which we don’t use). I then did some shopping and found the coolest unit. I’m still not sure if it’s a TV unit or something else, but it’s neat and perfect for storing toys.
I had to shuffle my books around so that the children’s books would end up near the play area and I purchased a brightly-colored rug from Walmart and some more shelving. I found a treasure-trove of great used toys at a local thrift store and after disinfecting everything, it was ready to be played in!
My daughters are ecstatic at the new play area and new toys. They’ve been exploring it constantly every chance they get.
