Edmonton’s Annual NOT-Back-To-School Picnic!

by Laura

What a blast we had at yesterday’s potluck/picnic! I’ve been wanting to go to this event for years and missed it last year by only a few days (I came to Edmonton 4 days after the picnic).

This even is hosted by HLSA and is one of the larger homeschooling events of the year. Always held on the first day of classes, it’s a good statement to say “were not bound by such silly institutionalization and schedules!”.

Dawn and Emily were much more confident this time. Dawn didn’t hold back at all and Emily stuck with me for only 30 minutes before deciding that it would be much more fun to play.

Kids were everywhere having a blast and know what? I didn’t notice any fighting or bullying going on…a nice break from what you see in the streets when school’s out! Parents got a chance to chat and “stretch out” before the real work started for most of them.
