Making HandPrint Ornaments

by Laura

For those of you that celebrate Christmas, you may already be thinking about what cool activities you can do for creative gifts or decorations. I came across this darling ornament that will enable you to treasure your children’s young memories forever.

You will need:

  • 1 plain ball-ornament for each child
  • white paint
  • paint brush or sponge
  • paint markers
  • nice paper or stationary and pen
  1. Paint the child’s hand with white paint. Gently have him hold the ball for a few moments, then remove it and allow to dry.
  2. With paint markers, add on the hats, scarves and features.
  3. Attach this poem with pen and paper (or type it out if you prefer):

These aren’t just five snowmen
As anyone can see
I made them with my hand
Which is a part of me
Now each year when you trim your tree
You’ll look back and recall
Christmas of 2008
When my hand was just this small

What a wonderful idea! I have printed and sent to my daughter, hoping that she will make these with my grandson when he is older (he’s just 3 months now) :)

Just came across your blog…love your ideas! I am a montessori teacher ages 3-6 and I can’t wait to try out the handprint snowmen. What a cute idea and different from any I have seen before! Thanks!
