Wth the phrase strips, your child can begin reading more than one word at a time without worrying about formatting. These ten strips will allow him to gain some confidence in putting the words together to make a meaningful idea.
Don’t push your child to read all the strips in the same day. One or two are sufficient. Help him when he has difficulty–you don’t want to frustrate him. Ad some on the next day and as he becomes familiar with the images, he will start to recall the sight words and sound out the other words phonetically.
Play games with your child! Once he has worked with all ten strips, you could choose a few to lay out and say the phrase so that he has to find the correct card. Have him trace over the letters with his hand, or trace them with a pencil (worksheets to come).
