The pink scheme is where children actually learn how to read.
They prepare themselves indirectly from the beginning of their participation in the classroom or home environment by participating in Practical Life and sensorial activities. Once they show an interest for learning to read, they start learning the letter sounds with help of the sandpaper letters. Following this, they learn to match sounds to object-words with the object bins.
When all this has been accomplished, they are ready to start putting sounds together to form simple words. Starting with simple CVC (consonant-vowell-consonant) words, they build the foundation of literacy for their future.
Following this, they match words to cards, then more on to reading phrases and finally, sentences.
Over the next week, I will post templates to make the materials and show you how they can be used for maximum benefit.
