Back from hiatus…

by Laura on December 5, 2008

I’m finally able to say that I’m somewhat settled in and ready to go. Things are semi-unpacked and the dayhome kids are back. I still don’t feel “in the swing of things” but at least I feel like this place is starting to look like a home.

Today the children are discovering the laws of gravity. Now that we have stairs, they are happily climbing up to the landing and tossing down whatever toys they can find. They now know that what goes down well…goes down!

I can thank G for this lovely innovation. The fact that he has an older part-time brother is painfully obvious. I have no problem with them wanting to toss light things down the stairs, but he’s so loud that he woke up my husband, who is none the happier about the disturbance.

Hesham has been instilling in Dawn that if you get hit, you hit back. I can’t say that I agree with that, but he keeps insisting, so I just sigh and watch my girls become more corrupt.

Emily was picking on Dawn the other day and she was upset over it. Frustrated at the constant bickering (is this what I have to look worward to for the next 16 years?), I told Dawn to go and hit Emily back. Emily, not wanting the punishment, looks up at Dawn and wanting to beat her to the punch, smacks herself on the chest!

I couldn’t help but burst out laughing, which relieved the tension in the whole room. Now anytime Dawn wants to get back at Emily, Emily does it first!
