Gingerbread!

by Laura

I purchased a gingerbread house for the girls to put together, but since they’d been sick, I was waiting for their germ-count ot come down. So yesterday was the day.

After Dawn’s more academic lessons, she wanted to play with the sparkles I had bought her, so I painted a heart of glue onto a piece of construction paper and gave her some sparkles in a small bowl to sprinkle over the shape.

Emily of course wanted in on the craft, so I drew her a star to do the same. Next time, I’ll get them to do their own shapes.

We’ve never done a gingerbread house before. Even in my youth, this was not someting my mother undertook with my brother and I. With the kits available these days, putting up a gingerbread house is fairly straitforward.

I pipped out the icing and assembled the house. then continued pipping while the girls used the candy to decorate the house.

Placing candy on the gingerbread house... an important job for a 4-year-old!

Even baba (dad) got involved! His need for perfection drove us nuts, though! It's the kids project...it doesn't need to look perfect!

The final result! ...now it's time to eat it!
