A topic of conversation around the local listserv is about how people get organized with their homeschool supplies. I personally feel as though I’m constantly battling a monster in my home that refuses to go to sleep. I guess it’s time I begin taking some ideas to heart and find solutions to keep this monster at bay. So far I’ve:
- I moved the children’s small toys (all organized in this) and moved it into my walk-in closet. It’s not so much a trust issue as it is little Kloee coming over and dumping everything on the floor in two minutes strait as soon as I’m not paying attention.
- I also moved the girls’ clothes into my closet. I was fed up with it constantly sitting on the floor and from a wheelchair, cleaning takes 2-3 times longer than it would be for an able-bodied person to do. At least in my room (and they sleep in there anyway), I can have a measure of control of what goes in and out. As they get older, I’ll slowly transfer stuff over to their room.
- All their homschooling and craft stuff is organized on a TV unit in the living room.
Now I need to:
- Tame the laundry monster (it never seems to shrink!)
- Figure out how to organize the children’s books.
- Set up a chore chart for the girls to help out around the house. They are already amazing little helpers, but we need to organize ourselves a little more. Mom will also have her chores on the chart! I fully support those who don’t want to assign chores, but if I’m to have things at least half-decent, especially with my circumstances, I need a sense of organization.
Time to get cracking! Would you share with us how YOU get organized? I’ll post some tips of how I managed to get organized (or not organized) over the next few days.
