by Laura

Update: The most popular page here at Practical Homeschooling is my mini unit study about mermaids. After a little more work and lots of added resources, I’ve relaunched theMermaids Unit Study over on Squidoo. Please visit for additional resources!

Enjoy!

Age range: 3-8 years.

Mermaids are wonderful imaginary creatures that have inspired stories from many cultures. Children love fantasizing stories about mermaids, so I thought it befitting to create a unit study for this purpose.

This is not a curriculum, it’s a set of resources that you can use to help your children discover mermaids. Since mermaids are fictional beings, it’s difficult to find useful information to put a comprehensive unit study together on it.

Some of the info here is geared to adults. It’s up to you to tell them about mermaids in an age-appropriate way, and to explain the difference between real and fictional.

WARNING: The graphics in some of these links may contain partial nudity, so please review the pages before allowing your young children to see them.
